Heifer Volunteer Cluster Gathering for Connecticut

Saturday, March 20, 2010

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

First Church of Christ
250 Main St.
Wethersfield, CT

This will be an informative and inspiring gathering for seasoned and new volunteers and for those interested in learning more about Heifer and our volunteer opportunities.
You won’t want to miss these helpful sessions:

Ø Successes and challenges of the Volunteer Community Groups in CT
Ø Volunteer Training on engaging and effective presentations and displays
Ø Growing our Volunteer Communities and sharing ideas on how to bring Heifer into your community
Ø Heifer Updates and new resources for volunteers, schools and congregations

Please bring a lunch. Beverages and dessert will be provided. During lunch, we will watch and discuss Heifer’s new DVD, 12 Stones, a beautiful and evocative film about the remarkable transformation of a group of women in southern Nepal. You’ll see how empowering women can bring an entire village out of poverty, and also witness Heifer’s approach to creating hope and self-reliance one community at a time.

Disney – Give a Day – Get a Day Heifer Volunteer Opportunity

Disney Parks is giving a free day at any of their parks to volunteers who complete a listed volunteer project. The Northeast Connecticut Heifer Community Volunteer group has been accepted by Disney to manage volunteer opportunities.

I am looking for future projects to list. I prefer projects in CT, MA or RI only at this time. Contact me at heifer@racespot.com with your ideas. See the Disney web site for more details about project requirements. Link

The first project I have listed is the Heifer International Poster Display. I have 83 people signed up as of today.

The Heifer International Poster Display project leads you through creating a poster display to help educate people about Heifer International. Use the link below to search for the project details (zip code 06260). Link

I will waive the meeting requirement for any current volunteer who would like to participate. Let me know in your inquiry that you are a current volunteer.
